Why Cheerleading?
Participating in DSYSA Pop Warner Cheer provides your child with the opportunity to develop age appropriate and safe cheer skills. With DSYSA, they can be part of a team and learn responsibility, discipline, and time management, all in a supportive fun atmosphere.
Cheerleading is a sport that teaches athleticism, strength, flexibility, coordination, and dedication. With its great physical rewards, cheer is also a social, team-based activity that can help boost kids’ self-confidence and leadership skills.
Practice & Games
Practices will be held 2-3 times per week in the Belterra/ Dripping Springs area.
Practices will start no earlier than August 1st. Under national Pop Warner requirements, each player must meet the following practice/conditioning requirements before they can participate in a game:
10 hours of conditioning (no jumps/stunts), followed by
10 hours of player readiness (conditioning and jumps/stunts)
DSYSA regular season games are played on Saturdays throughout Austin and the surrounding areas. The first game is Labor Day weekend and the season runs through the end of October/ early November. Cheerleaders are expected to attend all regular season and bowl games.
Fees
The cheer registration fee includes a cheer uniform, briefs, shoes, pompoms, and bow. There may be additional fees throughout the season based on parent preferences ie. cheer buckets, coach gifts etc.
